For short daytime trips along the main Santa Teresa and Playa Carmen area, a shared e-bike or e-scooter can be simpler to access and park than a car or ATV. For steep roads, luggage, heavy rain or late-night travel, choose a taxi or another suitable vehicle.
Download the Bimba app, create an account, check the live map and scan the QR code on an available vehicle. Ride responsibly, park at an approved location and tap End Ride in the app.
Bimba publishes 25 approved parking locations across the Santa Teresa area, including Playa Carmen and selected locations in Mal País. Before every ride, use the app to confirm the active service boundary, an eligible end point and live vehicle availability.
Bimba currently operates in the Santa Teresa area of Puntarenas, Costa Rica, including Santa Teresa, Playa Carmen and Mal País. Travelers visiting other parts of Costa Rica should check local transportation options for those destinations.
Yes. Visitors can download the Bimba app on iPhone or Android, create an account, locate an available e-bike or e-scooter and unlock it by scanning the vehicle QR code. Live vehicle and parking availability appears in the app.
No advance reservation is required. Open the Bimba app to check nearby vehicles and real-time availability before heading to a station or partner parking location.
Current rental pricing is shown in the Bimba app before you start a ride. Review the displayed unlock fee, time-based rate and any applicable pass or additional charges before confirming your trip.

Riders must be at least 18, have a valid government-issued ID and follow applicable Costa Rican traffic laws. Review the current in-app terms before riding an e-scooter or e-bike.
You must be at least 18 years old and have a valid government-issued ID to use Bimba, according to the current Rider Agreement.
Bimba does not provide helmets. Riders are strongly encouraged to bring and wear a properly fitted helmet that meets applicable safety standards.
Bimba serves Santa Teresa, Playa Carmen and Mal País. Check the live map and current in-app riding guidance before you go, remain within the permitted riding area and end your trip only at an approved Bimba parking location.
